Home, GAGA and Christmas Prep!

I've been home for 1.5 days and been so insanely busy. Rachel the Amazing helped me pack all of my New York junk up, and I finally turned in my last final paper yesterday after I got home!

Above is the goblin from Labyrinth that I drew for Rachel. Merry Christmas! Love, The Goblins!

Making tamales with my Grandma and Aunt Mary! Some got a little burnt this year, but they're still as good as always. Grandma's house is so different now, and it was a bit surreal to be there after so long!

The Lady Gaga Concert was completely stunning. Her costumes, performance, music, sets, dancers, relationship with her audience, etc. were all unbelievable. Me, Melissa, Michelle and Maureen are all "Little Monsters" now! I love her because she is making fun of the idea of Fame, while conquering it at the same time. She also continuously shows how women are treated as objects, the best examples are in her Bad Romance video! Her biggest message is that people can be a little weird and still be awesome and accepted! She is revolutionizing popular culture, whether you like it or not! I can't wait to see her continue to shock the world and reinvent her image! See the video of Dance in the Dark below with her amazing costume of lights!

Christmas Eve morning! We are watching the Muppet's Christmas Carol and decorating cookies. My mother is always the famous holiday cookie decorator!

This movie is classic! I can't wait for tonight at my Nina's house, tomorrow and my Grandmas and then tomorrow night with my Dad's family. I'm feeling a little sick and tired, so hopefully i make it through all the festivities! Merry Christmas!

Brittany Murphy Dead?!

RIP Brittany Murphy. This is one of my favorite movies! So sad that she had to go at age 32. This has definitely been a year filled with death, and I'm learning so much about life because of it! I just wish our culture would accept discussions about death and allow it to be more frequently talked about. Can't wait to watch this movie after finals!

California Dreamin'

Yesterday, 3-10 inches of snow fell in New York City! It was very hard and cold to walk in, so I took the shuttle home! Two more days until I can defrost and be done with this semester! 2 finals, a term paper, and lots of packing and mailing to go!

Here is the view out of my living room window.

This is the view out of my bedroom window, the actual place where Tony and Maria sing Tonight (this is how I justify the terrible view :)
My widgets. *sigh* I'm on the wrong side of the country!

Blog Title

I wanted to explain the title a bit--adventure (in English) is mixed with aventura (in Spanish) to reflect my mixed identities and the mixed cultures/experiences upcoming in my life!

I speak Spanglish, so my title is in Spanglish!

Change is in the Air!

This blog is for my friends and family to track my upcoming international adventures, and all the changes that will be happening in my life! In 4 days I will be finished with my finals, and done packing (hopefully) and will return home for Christmas! I'll be home in CA for 2 months, before I start my Study Abroad program in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I'll be there for 5 months, tracking my adventures, and then return home for another 2 months before I start my senior year of college!

I'm definitely in a flux of emotion and location which is why I'm making a blog--so that you can track me and keep in touch, no matter where in the world I am.

Here are some pictures of my Thanksgiving in London, England with one of my best friends from CA, Amanda.

Here are the sugar cookies in my mom's style that I made with one of my NY best friends, Rachel to get in the Christmas-y mood!

Another recent change in my life is that I have officially decided to change my major to THEATRE! I realized that it, so far, is the love of my life, and therefore I should not let anything get in the way of learning and working towards a theatrical career. One amazing thing that helped me in this decision was my trip to Helsinki, Finland this past summer, May 09. There we saw amazing theatre--2 productions were written and directed by Kristian Smeds. The theatre professor that I went to Finland with invited him to our school and he came, gave a workshop and talked with us! I was lucky enough to pick him up from the airport! Here we are eating with him. He was incredibly inspiring and I can't wait to start my theatre life at school with his influence in mind!
